About the event
Linking Hands to Fortifying the Village Part II - Deliverance and Mental Health
A driving mission directive for the Family Refuge Village is to address some of the issues that may pose as threats to the preservation and stability of African American families. One of the ongoing threats to our wellbeing and health is our ability to normalize the need for relevant mental health services. Historically some in our faith communities have provided mixed messages to individuals regarding the efficacy of mental health services. Additionally mental health professionals have at times dismissed the need to validate the specific spiritual practices and beliefs of their African American clients. Let’s talk about it. Join us Friday May 10th at the University of Minnesota Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) 2001 Plymouth Ave North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. The doors will open for registration at 10:00 AM. Continental Breakfast and soul food lunch provided. Minimum donation $1, but $25 donation is appreciated. PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE TO AVOID LONG REGISTRATION LINES THE DAY OF THE EVENT.
